Navigating a first

Longwood Gardens (Sunday, May 8, 2022) 

We had another first today… first Mother’s Day without Nick. But as much as Hallmark would have me think this day is all about moms, it isn’t. This year it was about George and allowing him his joy in celebrating his mom.

All he wants in this world is for me to be happy. And here is a day all about making me happy and showing how much he loves me. His Christmas came early… at 6:40am in fact. So many cards and notes and drawings… heartfelt school projects, handmade and store bought gifts, breakfast delivered to me in bed, finally going to Longwood gardens to gush over the blooms with me, working outside in our yard together… and lots of hugs, hand holding and “isn’t this the best Mother’s Day ever, Mom?”

Yes, it was little buddy. Without you I would not be a mother. Without you it would be impossible for me to see the beauty around me. 

Thank you for the best Mother’s Day ever, my dearest little boy.
