I suppose this really started just about two years ago. If you follow my blog you may remember that in mid July 2013 we were vacationing, "Austrian style", on the shores of the Bodensee (Lake Constance). This beautiful lake touches the shores of three countries: Austria, Switzerland, and Germany. One of the highlights for me on that trip was visiting the flower island of Mainau, Germany. This stunning island is filled with gardens, both formal and informal, and was simply breathtaking.

Like many botanical gardens, Mainau has a special annual theme which in 2013 was "Enchanted and Bewitching". The theme intended to bring visitors a glimpse into a magical world of spirits, fairies, dwarves, and giants. There were whimsical figures carved into wood, eerie reflective human silhouettes, full sized beds suspended from towering trees, and a colorful wishing tree among other things scattered throughout the gardens. Such fun!

Now I come to the title and true purpose of my post - The Wishing Tree. Handwritten on ribbons were thousands of wishes tied to this delightful pink tree. People wished for world peace, love, good fortune, prosperity, and health among other things in German, English, Italian, and many other languages. Together Nick and I added a single wish to those thousands of others. And while it has been difficult and taken much longer than we had hoped and wished for, it is with great joy I able to announce that I am pregnant! We are anxiously expecting the arrival of a baby BOY in November.

Our twenty week ultrasound was this past Tuesday and everything looked great! All the bits and bobs were accounted for in all the right sizes and in all the right places. Nick and I are just thrilled with our little guy, who already enjoys making his presence known with lots of daily taps and kicks. This holiday season is shaping up to be one of the absolute best ever!!!
Dearest Katie and Nick, Chris and I are thrilled for you and your precious baby!! Congratulations!! You are in our thought and prayers for a continued healthy pregnancy and delivery and a very, very healthy baby boy!! We know your son has two of the world's greatest parents!!
